Động từ chỉ hành động là loại động từ phổ biến nhất.

Động từ chỉ hành động được thêm s khi đi với chủ ngữ ngôi thứ ba số ít.

$\cdot$ He eats bread.
$\cdot$ She walks to the station.
$\cdot$ It floats on the sea.

Trong câu phủ định, ta dùng do not, does not hoặc did not.

$\cdot$ I do not eat bread.
$\cdot$ He does not eat bread.
$\cdot$ You did not walk to the station.
$\cdot$ It does not float on the sea.

Trong câu nghi vấn, ta đặt do, does hoặc did lên đầu câu.

$\cdot$ Does she walk to the station?
$\cdot$ Did they finish it?

Do not có thể viết tắt thành don't, does not thành doesn't, và did not thành didn't.

$\cdot$ I don't eat bread.
$\cdot$ She doesn't walk to the station.
$\cdot$ It doesn't float on the sea.
$\cdot$ They didn't finish it.
